Tata Altroz EV Launch Date in India & Expected Price

Tata Altroz EV was showcased in Auto Expo 2020, and it was supposed to be launched in 2021. However, the launch did not happen, and one of the reasons for the delay was Covid.

The Auto Industry experts believe that the Altroz EV will be launched in India by the end of March 2022.

Read this article until the end to learn about Tata Altroz EV’s expected price, features, specifications, and competitors.

Tata Altroz EV Launch

Tata Altroz EV Launch date may fall in the first quarter of 2022

As stated above, the Tata Altroz EV may be launched in India by the end of the first quarter of 2022. If you plan to buy an electric car, you may consider waiting for the Tata Altroz EV launch.

About Altroz EV

Tata Motors has already launched its best-selling Nexon EV and the Tigor EV in India. Both the electric cars are powered by Tata’s Ziptron architecture which has a larger battery mated to a powerful motor.

The Tata Altroz EV will be no different with more or less the same features as the other two EVs from Tata Motors. Those buying the Altroz EV will undoubtedly benefit from the low running cost.

We can safely assume the Altroz EV range will be around 250 km for a full charge. Well, that depends on how you drive.

The city commuters will have peace of mind while driving in heavy traffic. All they have to do is turn the gear knob from D (drive mode) to S (sports mode) to zip through the traffic.

Tata Altroz EV Exterior & Interior

There is not much change in the exterior compared with the Tata Altros petrol car. However, there are some changes in the interior of the vehicle.

The gearbox’s absence has created a visible space between the driver and co-passenger seat. The automatic gearbox consumes little room with a knob to change reverse, neutral, drive, and sports mode.

There is no armrest in the front cabin. Instead, there is storage space. The rear passengers get a single cup holder placed between the front two seats.

Overall there is not much difference in the space, dimension, and boot capacity compared to the Altroz petrol.

Tata Altroz EV in India

No doubt, Tata Altroz EV will surely appeal to Indian EV car buyers. However, inadequate charging infrastructure in the country and the time taken to “charge” the electric vehicles may confuse some buyers.

Currently, EVs are best for commuting within the city limits as you can return home and charge your vehicle overnight.

If you plan to travel a long distance, you might not find an electric charging station for your EV on the highways.

Several companies have come forward to set up charging stations across the country. It is only a matter of a few years before we get to see an EV charging station every few kilometers.

Coming to the sales, the Nexon EV has become India’s best-selling electric car, and Tata Tigor EV is no less.

If we go by the trend, we can safely assume that Tata Altroz EV will garner decent sales in the Indian EV market.

Tata Altroz EV Price in India

The Tata Altroz EV on-road price may be similar to the Tata Tigor at Rs. 11.99 Lakh to Rs. 13.14 Lakh. The on-road price will vary from State to State.

There is also speculation that the Altroz EV will be equipped with a Nexon EV battery pack. If this is true, the price mentioned above may increase.

Tata Altroz EV Features & Specification

I assume that the Tata Altroz EV features and specifications will be more or less similar to the Tigor EV.

Tata Altroz EV Competitor

Currently, I don’t see a competition EV car for the Altroz EV segment. There is one alternative from the Tata Motors stable, the Tigor EV. The only difference between these two cars is the Altroz is a hatchback, and the Tigor is a compact sedan.

Altroz EV Vs Up-coming cars

The year 2022 will see a lot of electric vehicle launches in India. The Mahindra eKUV100 is scheduled for the launch, but it might not compete with Altroz.
